As you all know (or should know if you read this web site of mine) I root for one team and one team only, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. That is in whatever sport they are playing/participating in, they will be the only team I will ever pull/root for, they are the squad of my heart. The only reason why I watch professional sports is because there are Tar Heels now playing at the next level, and that is also the reason why I have built the daily post “Heels in the League”. However, when it comes to championship games I will take sides if there is a Tar Heel involved. Having said that…
I been waiting for a while to tell you who I am rooting for in the Super Bowl, mostly because I been waiting for today, a Saturday, as it is also the last name of the only Tar Heel in this game, Jeff Saturday. He is an eleven year veteran of the Indianapolis Colts, playing center for them, and is one of the corner stones of that line that has kept Peyton Manning safe and sound so that the future Hall of Famer can do what he does best: win games. The 6’2″/295 lbs. lineman was undrafted out of UNC, but with his hard work and determination got to play in 4 Pro Bowls, while being voted twice as a 1st team All Pro selection and twice as a 2nd team.
So, let me wish all the best to Jeff Saturday as he goes for his second Super Bowl ring tomorrow. Here’s to hoping he that on Super Bowl Sunday Jeff Saturday has a super game!
Another reason why I am going for the Colts is because the New Orleans Saints gave Syracuse their football coach, who then brought in a Duke player to the hill. Sorry, Doug Marrone, you might be the saviour of the football program in upstate New York, but anyone that wants a Blue Devil just isn’t going to get my vote on anything!

Peyton says he’s thankful every day for Jeff Saturday and I am, too. In fact, the one absolutely single most time I was flat our ANGRY with my Colts was last off season when they almost let him go. If I’d had the money to give, I would have given it to the Colts to keep him, but thankfully, the salary cap expanded and they were able to bring him back. I don’t want to entertain the thought of a Colts team without Jeff Saturday until Jeff himself is ready to entertain it.
