Since most of the pieces (aka recruits) are now in place with John Wall finally deciding his destination I thought I do my second pre season Top 25 for next year. Yes, it’s way too early to do this, but c’mon, this is the blogosphere and I love doing this type of stuff. From here until the beginning of the season this list/ranking will change plenty, depending on news of the players in the NBA Pre Draft who have not hired an agent will stay in or come back, on how the freshmen are working out and, probably most importantly of all, how the teams gel. However, for now, May 20th, 2009, this is the way I see it. So, sit back and relax, as I count them down from #25 to #1…
25th – Gonzaga
24th – California
23rd – Siena
22nd – UCLA
21st – Oklahoma
20th – Ohio State
19th – Tennessee
18th – Michigan
17th – Illinois
16th – Wake Forest
15th – West Virginia
14th – Clemson
13th – Connecticut
12th – Duke
11th – Minnesota
10th – Butler
9th – Xavier
8th – Texas
7th – Washington
6th – Villanova
5th – Purdue
4th – North Carolina
3rd – Michigan State
2nd – Kansas
1st – Kentucky
Kentucky will remain the top team if Meeks comes back and the team gels. If that does not happen I would say that then it would be Kansas at the top spot. North Carolina will remain in the Top 5 if the freshmen live up to the expectations and they can mesh with the returning players from Chapel Hill. Duke is going to stay there only if everyone that is returning can step it up and the frosh can contribute from the get go. Clemson, like most years, will probably fall from that ranking, but only after getting a week or two in the Top 10. Wake Forest is going to stay there if Teague comes back, if not they might not even make the Top 25.
In all the Atlantic Coast Conference has four teams in my way too early predictions, and that is not enough, not for what should be the best conference in the land. On the other hand, for the biggest conference in the land, the Big East, they only have three in my rankings right now, with Syracuse having done a huge drop off, as they were a Top 5 team and now are nowhere to be seen due to the trio (Flynn, Devendorf and Harris) leaving the team for the next step.
Like my thoughts, think they stink? Let me know by leaving a message at the comment section.

I am still not sold on Kentucky being number one. I think Kansas and Michigan State are the two top teams. Kentucky has the talent, but I really do believe experience is an underrated factor.
