The Diamond Heels played their fourth game of the season and they came out a winner once again. North Carolina (4-0) took on UNC-Greensboro (3-1) at Boshamer Stadium, defeating them by double digit figures, with the final score being 12 to 2. Now, reading the recap from Tar Heel Blue, there was good news, as the Tar Heels scored in all but two innings, and there was not so good news, as UNC left 11 men on the bases in this game, and then again there was some good news, as Carolina stole a season high seven bases in this one. And while I am liking the positive news, leaving that many players instead of getting them home might hurt this squad as they face tougher competition down the line. But for now let’s get back to this game.

RS sophomore Garrett Davis (1-0) pitched five innings and got the win in this one, while head coach Mike Fox used another five pitchers to finish up the game, with none of them going over 1.1 IP. In all the gunslingers for the Heels gave up two runs (both on Davis) on three hits and five walks, while striking out 14 opposing batters. With the lopsided score no one got a save in this one. The Heels got sixteen hits in all, with five players having multiple hits in this one, while just two (JUCO transfer junior Dillon Hazlett with three & frosh rf/cf Brian Goodwin having two) players getting multiple. SR sophomore Tarron Robinson, who was the DH in this, was the only Diamond Heel to hit a homer, while four had doubles and Goodwin had a triple.
