Ty Lawson vs the rest of the PGs/Combos
Yesterday I gave you the full recap of the four players from Chapel Hill heading to the NBA Draft, today I am going to begin to look at how each of them is fairing compared to other players at their position. First one up is going to be Ty Lawson, which means I will be looking at some other point guards/combo guards to see what the mocks believe players at his position will go before him and who will go after. Some thoughts about what I found after checking these comparisons:
Out of eight mocks four had six (or more) point guards/combo guards in the lottery, three had five, and just one had four. That to me means that these bloggers are believing that this draft will focus more on the floor generals (or combo players) more than the big men. Could it be a trend change or just the exception to the rule? Probably neither, since this could be the draft that has good guards in it and they are worth taking instead of “upside” of a big man who has not yet developed.
One thing is sure as I read these mocks, Rubio is going to be the first of this group to go, the rest is all up in the air. I saw Lawson go as high as fifth, being the second pick of the group, to going in the high teens and being seventh in the group. So, besides the internation guard I have to believe that whomever we see go next is still all up in the air.

Nice piece..
