I know that we are fully underway with the football seasons (yes, american and european football) and the basketball is slowly but surely coming along. However, as you know, I try to cover all the sports I like when it come to North Carolina, and so I can not miss the fact that a couple of days back Mike Fox’ Diamond Heels took to the practice field. The Heels will practice until October 13, 2009, when the 2009 North Carolina World Series begins. This program, which has gone to the College World Series four times in a row, bring back some senior leadership, along with some other good bats and decent material on the mound. The freshman group is also a good mixture, with four of them having been picked in the MLB First Year Draft but deciding to go to college. The Tar Heel WS will be held at Boshamer Stadium and will be free of charge. As more stories come out from the official web site of North Carolina athletics, TarHeelBlue.com or other media venues, I will make sure to post them here on The Fifth Corner.
