Nicks a lock for a first day pick

Hakeem Nicks

With all that is going on with the men’s basketball team I sometimes forget to look around a bit and see if there is any news on the ex Heels now trying to make it in this year’s NFL Draft. I found two small online evaluations for Hakeem Nicks, the junior who opted to jump a year early for the pro’s. In the first evaluation, done by RotoWorld, it talks about the concerns some of the scouts had about the 40 yd dash speed, but with the wide out running a 4.54 the scouts were more than content with the time. It was also mentioned that Nicks is almost the same height as Michael Crabtree (probable best wr of the draft). This site says that Nicks is a strong candidate to be drafted in the first round.

In the second one, done by KFFL, talks a bit more about the pro’s and con’s of the wide receiver from Chapel Hill. Also stating that in their estimation Nicks is the fifth best of a talented core of receivers in this draft. KFFL believes that the junior wr would be an ideal second receiver in the pro’s. They seem him either going late in the first round all the way to late second, with teams like Indy and Baltimore looking at hims for their first pick, while the Raiders, Giants, Bucs and Dolphins thinking of him in the second round.

I still firmly believe, in my non expert mode, that Hakeem Nicks will go somewhere in the 20′s, meaning he is going to be a first rounder. Having said that, whether he goes first or second round, this young man from Charlotte, N.C. is going to have a great football career because of his work ethic and football knowledge. For now all I can say is I wish Hakeem Nicks (as well as all the other Tar Heels trying to make an impression on scouts) all the best.
