Some more articles are showing up about Tyler Hansbrough, and believe it or not, it’s all good for the young man from Poplar Bluff. It’s starting to feel like the people that didn’t watch the Heels too closely are now beginning to see what people like us, who have followed each and every game, already knew: Hansbrough is for real! And one of those people is Chad Ford, that in an “insider only” piece tells the reader to say “I told you so” about the power forward from Chapel Hill, going as far as titling the post “Draft combine: Hansbrough big winner”. I do not want to say, but when Ford eats crow it’s one of those times to mark down, since that man doesn’t do it often. Meanwhile, on his NBA.com blog, Hansbrough has a new entry on it, talking mostly about the Chicago Pre Draft experience. In all, the more you look around, the more you dig, the more it seems that Hansbrough is gaining more and more positive buzz with each passing day.
As of right now the only upcoming work out for Hansbrough is on June 13th, which is a group work out. Again, you have to believe that after this event there will be once again more positive feed back from the people “in the know”. With Tywon Lawson slipping of late when it comes to the draft, could all of this spring Hansbrough as the first Tar Heel to be selected in this year’s draft? I am not sure, especially because I just don’t think that the draft comes and goes and some team doesn’t fall in love with the speedy point guard. On the other hand I think that with all of this hype we could see Hansbrough dip into the teens as far as picks. The key is going to be the trades that happen, and if those affect some of the big men going into the lottery. If none of the top paint players fall I think that Hansbrough could sneak into the 18-19-20 picks.
Meanwhile, from Fan Dome, a nice video from the Chicago Pre Draft Combine all about Tyler Hansbrough:
One thing I found that is truly going to show how much respect Hansbrough is getting (as well he should) is this sentence: if you want a good physical and athletic comparison to Hansbrough, try Beasley, the No. 2 pick in the draft last year. They are within an inch and a few half seconds of each other in virtually every category. I mean, let’s think about that, going from being a bust (as many were considering him) to having the same numbers as Beasley isn’t luck, it’s something that anyone that has followed this young man knew and those that didn’t are learning. Tyler Hansbrough has been a corner stone for the Carolina basketball program for four years, his commitment to hard work and winning was proven with every game he played. Now, moving into the pro’s someone thought this was going to change? I doubt that and Hansbrough is proving me right and all the haters wrong!
I will be looking at the NBA bloggers and their thoughts of where the four Tar Heels are going either this afternoon or tonight. It’s going to be interesting to see where they put Hansbrough after all of this positive hype of the last week. I know that the mock drafts do not make a difference when it comes to the real one, but in the end, if you follow these things as much as I do, you notice that several of these bloggers are pretty much on the money when it comes to doing this. Stay tuned to The Fifth Corner as I will be keeping an eye on anything and everything being reported about the four Tar Heels heading to the NBA. Until then, the best of all to all four of them!
