Is UNC taking on MD or the snow?
Right now the question should be more “will the game between the Heels and the Terps be played” than who is going to win it. As most of you might have seen the giant snow storm that was supposed to hit the Virginia/DC/Maryland area has not disappointed any one that works for weather stations. From what I know, reading the tweets of many UNC people in the know, North Carolina arrived at their hotel last night, then were able to go have practice, but today, when heading to their morning practice they were stuck at the hotel as the bus could not leave the parking lot. The Tar Heels did a walk through in one of the hotel’s conference rooms. Word is now that the team’s bus is out of the snow and the team will be able to get to their afternoon shoot around. All of this means?
Nothing out of the ordinary, according to Karl Hicks, the ACC’s associate commissioner of men’s basketball operations, who said the following in this ACC Now online article:
“I think it will be played …the snow is supposed to stop tonight,’’
However, Mr. Hicks did add:
“But if it goes unabated for the rest of the afternoon, all night long and into the day tomorrow, which they’re not calling for, then a situation could arise where you might have some personnel or officials that couldn’t get there. But as of right now, we’re set to go.”
Basically, snow or sleet won’t stop this game, unlike some of the postal offices, which were closed due to the weather. On the other hand, from what I have read, 26″+ inches have fallen already in the are and more than another foot is expected, and that might be enough to make this situation a bit worst than what Mr. Hicks makes it sound. All of this will unfold in the next 6-8 hours, and if more comes out I will definitely update this post. Until then, the game is on, and so I will be doing my preview of it and try to get a Prediction Panel about it.
