Yesterday’s recap about the Heels in the Summer League just had one game to report on. Today we have two games that had a touch of caroline blue in them. The three players include on old timer, meaning he has been in the league a while and two players that were taken in this year’s NBA Draft. The reality is that the one that has been in the league longer is probably the same who needs to have the best five games in order to find a spot with some team in the `09-`10 season. But that is down the road, for now we are talking about the Las Vegas Summer League, and so let’s check these two games…
In the first game it’s the Minnesota Timberwolves being the guest team to the Houston Rockets. In this game we see ex Tar Heel Wayne Ellington starting as the shooting guard for the T’Wolves, and getting just over 24 minutes (2nd most on the team). In the time the ex Carolina shooting guard did not have a great game, as he scored just four points (2 for 12 from the field ~ 0-2 from beyond the arc), while collecting eight rebounds and committing just one turnover. As far as the game went, thanks to bad shooting throughout the T’Wolves, it was Houston winning by double digites, as they defeated Minnesota by the final tally of 79 to 65.
In the other game, their second (of five) of the League, it’s the Cleveland Cavaliers going up against the Milwaukee Bucks. For the visiting squad we have a pair of ex Heels on the roster, both startings and both doing ok on the night. Jawad Williams got 23 and a half minutes in this one, scoring nine points (3 for 9 ~ 2 for 3 ~ 1 for 2), plus six rebounds two steals and an assist. Danny Green, who got the nod at the other forward spot, playing close to 24 minutes, scoring 11 points (3 for 8 ~ 1 for 4 ~ 4 for 4), to go with three rebounds and a block shot. In the end however, it was Milwaukee winning by eleven points, beating Cleveland by the final of 80 to 69.
