Still working on catching up on this (not so) daily post about ex Carolina players in the National Basketball Association we are now up to the games from Tuesday, December 1, 2009, where in all there are six games. Half of them had a touch of carolina blue, two of them with players from Chapel Hill on both benches. So while the size of this recap might not be as big as others, this “Heels in the League” (NBA) will still have plenty when it comes to ex Heels. So, sit back and relax, as you read about the games from 12/01/09…

First game of the night has the Washington Wizards heading north of the border to take on the Toronto Raptors, in a game played in front of 15,776 at the Air Canada Centre. For the visiting team from the nation’s capital it’s a duo of ex Tar Heels, Antawn Jamison and Brendan Haywood. The first one has a good game, playing 43 minutes and getting a double double with 30 points (12 for 22 ~ 2 for 6 ~ 4 for 8), 12 rebounds, two assists, one steal, a block and a pair of turnovers. The second Heel comes close to a double double as well, as he scores 15 points (7 for 10 ~ 0 for 0 ~ 1 for 8), nine boards, three blocks, two steals and a TO. In what was a very tight game in the end it would be Washington winning by four points, defeating Toronto by the final score of 106 to 102. With the W the Wizards are now 6 and 10. Over at NBA.com it’s a great blogger Holly MacKenzie, who you can follow on twitter @stackmack, who has her recap on NBA.com, while Truth About It has his recap of the game as well.

On the other side it’s speedster Raymond Felton, who starts at point guard and gets 31 minutes. The ex guard for Roy Williams scores 14 points (6 for 13 ~ 0 for 0 ~ 2 for 2) to go with five assists, three boards, two steals and a turnover. And the last game from this night has the Golden State Warrior going to the Pepsi Center and taking on the Denver Nuggets in front of 14,570. For the visiting Warriors we know that Brandan Wright is out with a shoulder injury, but on the other side it’s rookie Ty Lawson for the Nuggets. The rookie point guard gets 24 minutes in this one, scoring 13 points (5 for 7 ~ 1 for 1 ~ 2 for 3) to go with five rebounds and five assists. In the end this is a pretty lopsided game as Denver destroys Golden State by 28 points, with the final tally being 135 to 107. With the win the Nuggets are now 13 and 5, while the loss sends the Warriors to 6 and 11. The Denver Stiffs have their recap of the game entitled Denver rebounds against Golden State, while at Slam Dunk Central Stephen Rhodes says Seven Players Score In Double-Digits, Nuggets Slam Short-handed Warriors.
