In this post about the ex Carolina player in the National Basketball Association from Sunday, November 29, 2009 there are ten games in all, five of them featuring ex Tar Heels on hand, one of those games with ex Heels on both benches. And as we all know, whether the recap is about all the ex UNC players or just one, “Heels in the League” (NBA) will always be here for all of you to see how our players are doing at the next level. First game of the night has the Atlanta Hawks heading to The Palace of Auburn Hills to take on the Detroit Pistons in front of 15,273 fans. For the visiting team we have ex national champs Marvin Williams, who started at the small forward slot and got 28 minutes. For the ex Heel its a nine point night (3 for 8 ~ 2 for 3 ~ 1 for 2), as well as two boards, a steal, a block and three turnovers. In the end it’s Detroit beating Atlanta by six, with the final score being 94 to 88. With the loss the Hawks are now 12 and 5 on the year. The second game of the night has the Boston Celtics going to the sunshine state to take on the Miami Heat at the AmericanAirlines Arena in front of a crowd of 18,104. For the visiting team it’s ex UNC big man Rasheed Wallace, who gets 18 minutes in all. The forward/center scores six points (3 for 8 ~ 0 for 3 ~ 0 for 0) to go with six rebounds and a turnover. As far as the game was concerned it’s Boston beating Miami by seven, with the final tally being 92 to 85. With the W the Celtics are now 13 and 4 on the year.

Moving on it’s another florida team in action, with the Orlando Magic taking on the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden in front of 18,861 fans. For the team from the sunshine state it’s Vince Carter, who starts for the Magic at the shooting guard slot and gets 35 minutes in all. In that time frame Carter scores 23 points (9 for 20 ~ 1 for 7 ~ 4 for 9) to go with three rebounds, three assists, a steal and a TO. When it was all said and done it’s Orlando taking down New York by a dozen, with the final being 114 to 102. With the victory the Magic have now a 14 and 4 record on the year. Next up in this post is the game between two teams that both have ex UNC rookies and national champs on their roster as the Minnesota Timberwolves go to the mile high city to take on the Denver Nuggets at the Pepsi Center. For the visiting squad we find one rookie in Wayne Ellington and for the home team the other is Ty Lawson. Ellington gets 13 minutes, where he scores six points (1 for 4 ~ 1 for 3 ~ 3 for 4) to go along with two assists, one board, one steal and a turnover. While Lawson gets 18 minutes, scoring six points as well (3 for 4 ~ 0 for 1 ~ 0 for 0) to go with three assists, one board, one steal and turning over the ball four times. In what has to be a huge surprise to all, this game is won by the visitors, as Minnesota defeated Denver by six points, with the final being 106 to 100. The W gives the TWolves their second win of the season and are now 2 and 15, the loss brings the Nuggets to a 12 and 5 record on the year. The Denver Stiffs’ recap is entitled: Unacceptable…

In the last of the games from this evening it’s the New Orleans Hornets and the Sacramento Kings. The gmae played at ARCO Arena in front of 11,548 fans. For the home squad it’s ex UNC big man Sean May, who does not play (DNP – Coach’s Decision) in this game. The game itself was not too close as Sacramento beat New Orleans by double digits, with the final being 112 to 96. With the win the Kings are back at .500 for the season, with a 8 and 8 record.
