Here is the second part of the “Heels in the League” for the games from Friday, November 27, 2009, you can see part one of this post by going here. In the first half of this post we saw seven players from Chapel Hill in action, in this part we will have four of them. As I told you in the other post, I am hoping to get the games from 11/28/09 done as well this afternoon, and maybe more, but won’t commit since the MSU/UNC game is on tonight and I am not missing it! But for now enjoy this part of “Heels in the League” (NBA) for the game from 11/27/09…

The first game, played at the Conseco Fieldhouse, has the Dallas Mavericks playing the Indiana Pacers in front of 16,613. For the home team we have rookie Tyler Hansbrough getting just eight minutes in this game. In that time the ex NPOY under Roy Williams scored four points (2 for 2 ~ 0 for 0 ~ 0 for 2) to go with five rebounds and two assists. When it was all said and done this one went to the visiting squad, as Dallas beat Indiana by 21, with the final being 113 to 92. With the loss the Pacers slide to a 6 and 8 record on the year. Next is the game between the New York Knicks and the Denver Nuggets, played at the Pepsi Center in front of a crowd of 19,155. For the home team we have another Tar Heel rookie, Ty Lawson, who gets 16 minutes off the bench for his coach George Karl, also a member of the Carolina family. In those minutes the speedster point guard scores just two points (1 for 3 ~ 0 for 0 ~ 0 for 0) but has six assists (to no turnovers) and three rebounds (all on the offensive side). As far as the game went it was Denver winning a tight one, sliding by New York by the final tally of 128 to 125. With the W the Nuggets are now 12 and 4 on the year. The third game (of four) is the one that has the Phoenix Suns heading to Target Center and taking on the Minnesota Timberwolves in front of 18,225 fans. For the home squad it’s another rookie from Chapel Hill, Wayne Ellington, who plays 20 minutes in this one. The shooting guard scores just four points (1 for 4 ~ 0 for 2 ~ 2 for 2) to go with three rebounds and two steals on the night. In the end, as has been the case for most of the year, the home squad goes down once again, with Phoenix winning this one going away, taking down Minnesota by the final of 120 to 95.

Finally, the last game for 11/27/09 is the one that pins the New Jersey Nets and the Sacramento Kings, played at ARCO Arena in front of 12,725 fans. For the home team we have ex UNC big man Sean May, who in this game gets just three minutes of playing action. In that time the power forward scores two points (1 for 3 ~ 0 for 0 ~ 0 for 0) to go with just two TOs. In the end it’s Sacramento winning this one easily, beating a winless New Jersey by the final of 109 to 96. With the win the Kings come back close to .500, with a 7 and 8 record.
