As I continue to try and catch up on the “Heels in the League” (NBA) post here is the one from the games that were played on Tuesday, November 24, 2009. On that night the National Basketball Association had six games in all, four of them had players that once played in Chapel Hill. So, sit back and relax as I take you through the games from 11/24/09, and make sure to check all the links I give you since they are truly worthwhile!

The first game on tap is the one that has the Philadelphia 76′ers going to the nation’s capital to take on the Washington Wizards in front of 14,485 fans. For the Wizs it’s the duo of Antawn Jamison and Brendan Haywood. Jamison, starting at the power forward position, gets 41 minutes in all and does plenty with the time on the floor. The ex NPOY gets a huge double double, scoring 32 points (13 for 23 ~ 1 for 4 ~ 5 for 6) to go with 14 rebounds, three assists and a steal (along with a couple of turnovers). For Haywood a much quieter night, as he plays 34 minutes scoring eight points (4 for 7 ~ 0 for 0 ~ 0 for 0) to go with eight boards (5 offensive), an assist and a steal. In the end, in a very tight game at the Verizon Center, it’s Washington beating Philadelphia by one, with the final tally being 108 to 107. The win brings the Wizards to a record of 4 and 9. Bullets Forever, a SB Nation blog, has their recap of the game. Let me just say that while I do not follow the NBA that much I too would like to extend my condolences to the Pollin and Wizards’ family for the lost of Mr. Abe Pollin. From the blog Truth About It, here is a piece about the owner of the Wizs: Rest In Peace Abe Pollin: Wizards Owner Passes at 85

The next game on tap has the Indiana Pacers going north of the border to take on the Toronto Raptors in front of 17,136. For the visiting team it’s rookie power forward Tyler Hansbrough, who gets 15 minutes off the bench and does the most with it. The ex NPOY under Roy Williams scores 10 points (4 for 6 ~ 0 for 0 ~ 2 for 2) to go with four boards and a block (along with turning the ball over once). As far as the game was concerned it was Toronto beating Indiana by double digits, with the final score being 123 to 112. With the loss the Pacers go down to a 5 and 7 record for the year. Over at Eight Points, Nine Seconds their recap of this game is titled Too Little, Too Late.

Third game (of four) has the Golden State Warriors going to the lone star state to take on the Dallas Mavericks. A game played at the American Airlines Center in front of 20,008 fans. For the Warriors we should be seeing Brendan Wright, but as we know by now the young power forward could be out for six months due to his surgery. In a game where many Warriors were out, with the coach only playing one off the bench, it was still Golden State defeating Dallas by eight, taking the game by the score of 111 to 103. With the W the Warriors are now 5 and 8 on the season.

For the Nuggets we have rookie point guard Ty Lawson, who gets 22 minutes off the bench. In that time frame the speedster from Chapel Hill scores four points (2 for 5 ~ 0 for 1 ~ 0 for 0) to go with five assists, two boards and a steal. Lawson also had four turnovers on the night. When it was all said and done Denver beat New Jersey by double digits, with the final score being 101 to 87. With the W the Nuggets get in double figure wins at 10 and 4 on the season. The Denver Stiffs, a SB Nation blog, has the recap of the game, entitling it Denver takes care of business .
