Between small chit chats with my wife (who is now sleeping) and the great nursing staff here, let me get back to another (not so) daily post called “Heels in the League” (NBA). In this one I am going to check the games from Monday, November 23, 2009, where the Association only had four games on tap, but two had ex Carolina players in them. And as we all know by now, be it all of them or just one, if there is an ex Heel there is a recap. So, without any more delays, here is the small recap for the games from 11/23/09…
The first game with a touch of carolina blue has the Sacramento Kings heading to FedExForum to take on the Memphis Grizzlies in front of a very small crowd of 10,109 fans (probably in the Top 5 smallest crowds this year). For the visiting team it’s ex UNC big man Sean May, who gets some playing time in this one, compared to the last games where he has been on the bench the whole 48 minutes. The ex national champ sees six minutes of action, where he does not score (0 for 2 ~ 0 for 0 ~ 0 for 0), but grabs three rebounds on the night. In the end it’s Memphis beating Sacramento by 11, with the final score being 116 to 105. With the loss the Kings slide to 5 and 8. Over at Slam Dunk Central the title of the recap is Kings Lose 4th Straight, Mauled By Grizzlies 116-105.
The other game of the night that features someone from Chapel Hill is the one between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Los Angeles Clippers, played in front of 13,815 fans. Rookie Wayne Ellington is the touch of carolina blue for the visiting team. However the shooting guard does not see any action in this game (DNP – Coach’s Decision). When it was all said and done at the STAPLES Center it’s Los Angeles taking this one by four, as they defeat Minnesota by the final of 91 to 87. With the loss the TWolves fall to 1 and 13 on the season.
