Heels in the League (NBA) 11/17/09
Before I begin with this post let me just say how nice it feels to be all caught up and now having this being a daily post. Yesterday’s NBA schedule had eight games in all of which half of them had a touch of carolina blue in them, one of them with ex Carolina players on both benches. So this all means that it’s time to have the recap that I call “Heels in the League” (NBA). Make sure to check out the links I put on each post as they are from blogs that follow the teams. Now, without further interruptions, here are is the recap from the 11/17/09 games…
The first one is between the Golden State Warriors (WC – Pacific) and the Cleveland Cavaliers (EC – Central), played at the Q (Quicken Loans Arena) in front of 20,562 fans. For the visiting team it’s should be Brandan Wright giving the Warriors a touch of carolina blue, but he is still out for the season, and didn’t even dress for the game. While for the home squad it’s the duo of national champs, Jawad Williams and Danny Green, who once again both dress but do not see any action (DNP – Coach’s Decision). In the end it is Cleveland defeating Golden State by six points, with the final score being 114 to 108. With the win the Cavs are 8 and 3 and leading their division by 1.5 games. The loss drops the Warriors to 3 and 7 and they are last in their division, trailing by six games. Over at Slam Dunk Central my good friend Jeff Sack talks about the game between the Cavs & Warriors.
The next game, one that I watched on TV for the most part, is the one that has the Indiana Pacers (EC – Central Div) going east to take on the New Jersey Nets (EC – Atlantic Div) at the IZOD Center in front of 11,332 fans. For the visiting Pacers it’s rookie Tyler Hansbrough, getting 16 minutes off the bench and not scoring any points (0 for 5 ~ 0 for 0 ~ 0 for 0) to go along with four boards, an assist and a turnover on the night. When it was all said and done it was Indiana handing New Jersey another loss, with the final score being 91 tp 83. With the W the Pacers are now 5 and 3 and 1.5 games off Div leader Cleveland.
In the third game of the night it’s the Toronto Raptors (EC – Atlantic Div) going to the mile high city to take on the Denver Nuggets (WC – Northwest Div) at the Pepsi Center in front of 16,446 fans. For the home squad we have ex Heel speedster Ty Lawson coming off the bench and playing 23 minutes in all. In that time the point guard from Chapel Hill got four points (1 for 3 ~ 0 for 0 ~ 2 for 4) to go along with six assists, two steals (and three TOs). In what was a very high scoring game it’s Denver winning this one, defeating Toronto by the final of 130 to 112 thanks to a huge second half. With the win the Nuggets are now 8 and 3 and on top of their division. The Denver Stiffs has its recap which they called Nuggets get pass happy against Raptors…
The last game of the night is the one between the Chicago Bulls (EC – Central Div) and the Sacramento Kings (WC – Pacific Div), played at ARCO Arena in front of 12,634 fans. For the home squad we have ex UNC big man Sean May, who for the fourth time in a row is dressed but does not play (DNP – Coach’s Decision). As far as the game went it was all the visiting squad in this one, as Chicago beat Sacramento by the final of 101 to 87. With the loss the Kings go down to .500 at 5 and 5, and are 4 games back of division leader Phoenix. Stephen Rhodes (Slam Dunk Central) has the recap of Bulls vs Kings.
