Finally, it has arrived, the post that gets me even with the NBA schedule, making the daily post “Heels in the League” (NBA) on par. Here is the recap from the games of Monday, November 16, 2009. (Remember that there were no ex Carolina players in action on 11/15/09). In all there are three games on this evening and two of them have a touch of carolina blue in them, one with ex Heels on both benches. So, sit back and relax, as you check out the games from 11/16/09…

The first of the two games with ex Carolina players in it is the one that took place in Philips Arena between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Atlanta Hawks. For the home team it’s Marvin Williams getting the nod at the small forward spot. The ex Heel got 34 minutes in all, scoring four points (2 for 6 ~ 0 for 0 ~ 0 for 0) to go with three assists, two boards, a steal, a block and two turnovers. The game was tied up after four quarters and so it went into overtime, where Atlanta won the game, defeating Portland 99 to 95. With the win the Hawks are now 9 and 2 on the season. Over at Peachtree Hoops there is their usual excellent recap which I guess you could almost say “a picture is worth a 1000 words”.

The second (and last) game of the night is the one that has the Charlotte Bobcats heading south on I-95 to play the Orlando Magic at the Amway Arena. For the visiting squad we have point guard Raymond Felton starting for the Bobcats and getting 23 minutes of playing time. The ex national champ from `05 scored six points in that time (3 for 6 ~ 0 for 1 ~ 0 for 0) to go along with five assists, four rebounds a steal and three TOs. On the other side, ex Heel Vince Carter gets the nod at the shooting guard, playing 35 minutes in all. The ex pupil of Dean Smith gets 15 points (5 for 12 ~ 3 for 5 ~ 2 for 2), four rebounds, two assists, one steal and a turnover on the night. When it was all said and done it was Orlando beating Charlotte by the final score of 97 to 91. With the W the Magic are now 8 and 3, while the loss puts the Bobcats at 3 and 7.
