In the second part of the post about the ex Carolina players in the National Basketball Association for the games of Wednesday, November 11, 2009, there are three games to look at. (If you didn’t see the first part of the games check it out here). I know it’s late, but now that the wife is sleeping confortably, the dogs are all relaxed, if I can I am going to give you more than just this piece, which I call “Heels in the League” (NBA), tonight and hopefully by tomorrow I can call myself caught up with this (which I truly want to be so I can put more links on each game). But for now, enjoy this edition of “Heels in the League” (NBA) for 11/11/09…
The first game, a match up between a western conference squad and an eastern conference one, it’s the Denver Nuggets taking on the Milwaukee Bucks in a game played at the Bradley Center in front of 12,987 fans. For the visiting squad it’s ex Heel and national champ Ty Lawson, who gets 21 minutes off the bench for the Nuggets. In that time frame the speedster point guard scores 2 points (1 for 5 ~ 0 for 2 ~ 0 for 0) to go along with five assists, two steals and a rebound. In the end it was Milwaukee winning this one over Denver by the final of 108 to 102. With the loss the Nuggets are now 6 and 3 on the year. Over at the Roundball Mining Company (TrueHoop Network) here is their recap of the game.
The next game on tap is the one between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Minnesota Timberwolves, played at the Target Center in front of a crowd of 13,555. In this one ex Heel and national champion Wayne Ellington got 16 minutes off the bench for his TWolves. The shooting guard scored six points (3 for 6 ~ 0 for 1 ~ 0 for 0) to go along with a board and an assist (and 2 turnovers). As far as the game was concerned, as it has been most of the season, Minnesota loses once again, and once again it’s not pretty, as Portland takes them by 23 points, with the final being 107 to 84. With the loss the TWolves go down to 1 and 8 on the season.
The last game of the night is the one that puts two teams that both have ex Heels on them, as the Cleveland Cavaliers go down to the sunshine state to take on the Orlando Magic. The game is played in front of a packed house at the Amway Arena. For the visiting Cavs it’s the tandem of national champs, Jawad Williams and Danny Green. And as I have written way too many times in this recap for the Cleveland team neither of them get to see any action, and it seems that neither even dressed in this one. On the other side, for the Magic, it’s Vince Carter, who started and got 35 minutes of playing time. The shooting guard scored a team high 29 points (11 for 23 ~ 2 for 7 ~ 5 for 6) to go with five boards, an assist, a block and a steal. In the end it’s Cleveland over Orlando by the final of 102 to 93. With the W the Cavs are now 5 and 3, while the loss brings the Magic to 6 and 3. Over at Cavs: The Blog they have a recap of the game, which is entitled the night everything was perfect except the month.
