Here is part two of the games from October 30, 2009 in what I call “Heels in the League” (NBA). As most of you have seen this daily post has not been so daily, and I hate to keep making excuses, so I am going to try to stay on track with it (as soon as I catch up, which I am hoping will be before the end of the weekend). Look for one more (if not two) posts today of this daily thread of mine. For now, sit back and relax, as I finish up the games from 10/30/09…
The first game is the one between the Miami Heat and the Indiana Pacers, played in front of 18,165 at Conseco Fieldhouse. For the home squad it’s lottery pick Tyler Hansbrough giving them a touch of carolina blue, but unfortunately the ex Heel and national champ is still rehabbing his injury nd didn’t play in this game. In the end it was Miami winning the contest, taking down Indiana by double digits, 96 to 83. With that the Pacers are still in search of a win at 0-2. At SBNation Indy Conrows has it’s recap of the game entitled Not Enough Left In Reserve For Pacers, while over at FanSided the Pacers’ blog AlwaysMillerTime has its own small recap.
The next game to have a touch of carolina blue has it on both benches as the Cleveland Cavaliers headed to the Target Center to take on the Minnesota Timberwolves. For the visiting team it’s the tandem of forward Jawad Williams and g/f combo Danny Green. However, as has been the case for the beginning of this season, neither of these two ex Heels got to see any action in the game. On the other side, Green’s ex team mate, shooting guard Wayne Ellington gets 23 minutes in where he score four points (1 for 8 ~ 0 for 3 ~ 2 for 2) to go along with two rebounds. When it was all said and done it was Cleveland taking home the W, defeating Minnesota 104 to 87. With the win the Cavs are now 1 and 2, while the loss slides the TWolves to 1 and 1. Jeff Sack (Slam Dunk Central) says Cavaliers Get First Win Of The Season Over Timberwolves 104-87!
The third game of this post is the one between the Orlando Magic and the New Jersey Nets, played at the IZOD Center in front of 17,525 fans, in what could be said as a homecoming for the only Tar Heel in this game, Vince Carter. For the shooting guard and ex pupil of Dean Smith, the game was sweet and sour, the sweet being his stats, scoring 16 points (6 for 8 ~ 2 for 3 ~ 2 for 2) to go along with four assists and three rebounds, and the sour being the fact that Carter got hurt in the game and that is why he only played 15 minutes in this one. In the end it was Orlando beating New Jersey by the tally of 95 to 85. With the win the Magic stay undefeated at 2 and 0. From SB Nation, the Magic’s blog, Third Quarter Collapse has their game recap from the Magic/Nets game.
And the last game for this post and for October 30, 2009 it’s the Golden State Warriors heading over to US Airways Center to play against the Phoenix Suns, played in front of 18,422 fans. For the home team it’s Brandon Wright giving the Warriors a touch of carolina blue. However the forward from Chapel Hill didn’t play in this game and watched his team get destroyed, as Phoenix took the game by double digit, defeating Golden State 123 to 101. With the loss the Warriors remain without a win in the early season at 0 and 2.
