(MLB) 04/06/10
Once again on the trail to getting back on track with all the posts here is this edition of “Heels in the League” (MLB) for the games from April 6, 2010. In all there were just seven games on tap, and out of the four major league team with an ex Diamond Heel three were in action. First game of the night is a divisional match up (some would say the biggest rivalry in baseball if not sports) as the Boston Red Sox (AL East) take on the New York Yankees (AL East) at the Fenway Park in front of 38,000 fans (102.9% capacity). This was the second game of a three game series. For the home town team it’s relief pitcher Daniel Bard, who once again gets an inning of work (2nd day in a row), giving up no runs on a walk and striking out one (16 pitches/9 strikes) ERA: 0.00. In the end, coming from behind, New York won the game, defeating Boston , by the final of 6 to 4. With the loss the Red Sox are now 1-1 overall (.500 winning percentage) and 1-1 at home (.500 winning percentage).

The second game of the recap is once again a divisional battle from the American League East as the Baltimore Orioles (AL East) going at it with the Tampa Bay Rays (AL East). The game, which was played at Tropican Field in front of a crowd that numbered 36,973 (102.6% capacity), is the third of a three game series. For the visiting squad from Charm City, it’s second baseman Brian Roberts, who bats first for the Orioles and goes 0 for 5 in this one, with a strike out and nothing more. As far as the game went, it was a one run affair, where by scoring two runs in the bottom of the ninth Tampa Bay got the win, beating Baltimore 4-3. With the loss the Orioles are 0-1 on the year (.000 winning percentage) and 0-1 on the road (.000 winning percentage).

The third game of the night, and only National League one, is the one between the Colorado Rockies (NL West) and the Milwaukee Brewers (NL Central) in the second of a three game series. The game was played at Miller Park in front of a crowd of 37,344 (89.1% capacity). For the visiting team it’s catcher Chris Iannetta who didn’t have a great night going 0 for 4 in this one, with two strike outs. As far as the game was concerned it was Milwaukee winning this one, defeating Colorado by the final of 7 to 5. With the loss the Rockies are 1-1 overall (.500 winning percentage) and 1-1 on the road (.500 winning percentage).
