Once again very, very late in this recap of ex North Carolina players in the National Basketball Association, that I call “Heels in the League” (NBA), it’s time to look at a very small night in action. For yesterday’s game, Thursday, March 25, 2010, there are only three games in all, one of them being having a touch of Carolina Blue. As usual, you can check out the complete run down of the night by going to either Real GM or ESPN. However, for now, let’s get going with this edition of “Heels in the League” for the game from 03/25/10…

In the one and only game of the night it was the Dallas Mavericks (WC 1st SW) going to the Rose Garden to take on the Portland Trail Blazers (WC 4th NW) in front of a crowd that numbered 20,611. This was the third (of four) match ups between these franchises, with Portland having won the first two games so far. For the visiting team from the lone star state it’s ex UNC big man Brendan Haywood (67 Games: 31.8 MinsPG ~ 9.5 PPG ~ 9.8 RPG ~ 2.1 BPG), who comes off the bench for the Mavs to play 35 minutes in all. The center had both eight points (4 for 9 ~ 0 for 0 ~ 0 for 0) and rebounds (two offensive), four blocks, one steal and three turnovers while having a -10 pts differential. In the end it was Portland winning the game (and the series), defeating Dallas by a dozen, with the final tally being 101 to 89. With the loss the Mavs drop to 47-25 overall (.653 winning percentage) and 22-14 on the road (.611 winning percentage).
