(NBA) 03/16/10

Just when I thought I was caught up and on time with my daily post “Heels in the League” (NBA) here comes some RL and I am once again back into the night time recaps (something I want to avoid). This edition we are looking at the games from Tuesday, March 16, 2010, where in all there were eight games in the National Basketball Association. Of those six had a touch of Carolina Blue, with one being a head to head match up. For a total run down of the games you can check out either ESPN’s Scoreboard Page or RealGM’s recap. But, without further ado, here is this edition of “Heels in the League” (NBA) for the games from 03/16/10…

The first game of the night is also the only head to head one as the Charlotte Bobcats (EC 3rd SE) go to Conseco Fieldhouse to take on the Indiana Pacers (EC 5th Central) in front of a crowd of 10,850. This is the third (of three) match up between the two teams, with the series being tied up at one a piece. For the team from the east coast we have speedster Raymond Felton (65 Games: 32.7 MinsPG ~ 11.7 PPG ~ 5.4 APG ~ 1.6 SPG), who starts for the Bobcats and plays for 35 minutes. In that time the point guard scores seven points (3 for 9 ~ 0 for 2 ~ 1 for 3) to go with six assists, five boards, (2 offensive), a steal, a block and a pair of turnovers. Felton also has a +9 pts differential in this game. On the other side, for the home town team, we should be seeing lottery pick Tyler Hansbrough, but as we all know the rookie power forward is out (and probably won’t be back this year) due to an inner ear infection and maybe other things. In the end, in a pretty good game, it was Indiana winning the game and the series, defeating Charlotte by five points, with the final score being 99 to 94. With the W the Pacers are now 22-45 on the year (.328 winning percentage) and 15-16 at home (.483 winning percentage). With the loss the Bobcats are 34-32 on the season (.515 winning percentage) and 10-24 on the road (.294 winning percentage).

Moving on to the second game where we find the Cleveland Cavaliers (EC 1st Central) heading to The Palace at Auburn Hills to take on the Detroit Pistons (EC 4th Central) in a divisional clash. The game, played in front of a crowd that numbered 22,076. is the third (of four) between these franchises, the first two being a win for Cleveland. For the team from C-Town it’s a trio of Heels, with Antawn Jamison (53 Games: 37.7 MinsPG ~ 19.6 PPG ~ 8.7 RPG ~ 0.3 BPG), starting and getting 37 minutes, Jawad Williams (41 Games: 13.1 MinsPG ~ 4.2 PPG ~ 1.4 RPG ~ 0.1 BPG), coming off the bench for 21 minutes and Danny Green , who dressed but didn’t play (DNP – Coach’s Decision). The ex NPOY had a double double night with 15 points (7 for 14 ~ 0 for 1 ~ 1 for 2) to go with 10 rebounds (4 offensive), three steals and a TO while having a +13 pts differential. For Williams it was a 10 points performance (3 for 6 ~ 1 for 3 ~ 3 for 4) to go along with two boards and an assist while having a pts differential of +13. In the end, in a game that might have been tighter than most thought, it was Cleveland winning this one, defeating Detroit by a dozen, with the final tally being 113 to 101. With the victory the Cavs are 53-15 overall (.779 winning percentage) and 24-11 on the road (.685 winning percentage).

The third game of the night has the Atlanta Hawks (EC 2nd SE) heading up north on I-95 to play the New Jersey Nets (EC 5th Atlantic) for what is the third (of three) games between them, with Atlanta having taken the first two so far. The game was held at the IZOD Center in front of an attendance that numbered 11,128. The fourth game is an East/West match up as we have the Denver Nuggets (WC 1st NW) hosting the Washington Wizards (EC 5th SE) for the second game (of two) between the teams, with the team from the nation’s capital winning the first one. The game had a crowd of 17,447 and was played at the Pepsi Center. For the home squad it should be speedster Ty Lawson, but the rookie point guard is still out (DNP – Coach’s Decision) due to a small injury he had a couple of weeks ago. Lawson did tweet this afternoon he was going for an MRI. As far as the game was concerned it was Denver taking this one, defeating Washington by the final score of 97 to 87. With the win the Nuggets are now 46-22 on the year (. winning percentage) and 29-5 at home (.852 winning percentage).

And we close this out with the divisional game between Los Angeles Lakers (WC 1st Pacific) and the Sacramento Kings (WC 4th Pacific), played at ARCO Arena in front of a crowd that numbered 17,361. This is the third (of four) games between these divisional foes with LA having won both games already.
