(NBA) 03/02/10

It is once again a late recap (due to both RL things and other circumstances I won’t go into) for the games from yesterday, Tuesday, March 2, 2010. The National Basketball Association just had four games on their schedule and all of them had a touch of Carolina Blue, however none of them were head to head match ups. As usual, if you want a run down of the complete schedule you can see it by going to RealGM‘s recap for the games from 03/02. So, without further ado, let’s get this edition of “Heels in the League” (NBA) for the games from 03/02/10…

The first game of the night is the one that has the Boston Celtics (EC 1st Atlantic) going to the Motor City to take on the Detroit Pistons (EC 4th Central) in what is the second (of 3) games between the two clubs, Detroit won the first one. The game was played at The Palace of Auburn Hills in front of a crowd that numbered 17,956 (max capacity: 22,076). In this one for the team from Bean Town it’s ex UNC big man Rasheed Wallace (55 Games: 23.7 MinsPG ~ 9.9 PPG ~ 4.2 RPG ~ 0.8 BPG), who starts for the Celtics and plays a total of 30 minutes in all. The ex pupil of Dean Smith scored 10 points (4 for 10 ~ 2 for 5 ~ 0 for 0) to go with six boards, two steals, two blocks, an assist and a TO, while having a team high +7 pts differential. In the end it was Boston winning this one, beating Detroit by five, with the final score being 105 to 100. The victory put the Celtics at 37-21 overall (.632 winning percentage), 21-10 on the road (.677 winning percentage) and fourth in the East, 8.5 games behind the conference leader and just 0.5 behind the third squad.

Next game of the night is an East/West clash as the Golden State Warriors (WC 5th Pacific) travel cross country to take on the Miami Heat (EC 3rd SE). This is the second (of two) games between these franchises with the first game going to Miami. The game was played at the AmericanAirlines Arena in front of an attendance of 15,123 (max capacity: 19,600). For the team from the west we should be seeing forward Brandan Wright, but as we all know by now he does not see any action in this one either as he is still working his way back from the shoulder injury/surgery. In the end, in a high scoring affair, it was Miami winning this tight one, beating Golden State by four points, with the final tally being 110 to 106. With the loss the Warriors are 17-42 on the year (.293 winning percentage), 4-24 on the road (.142 winning percentage) and second to last in the West, 17.0 games out of playoff contention.

And we close out this post with the game between the Indiana Pacers (EC 5th Central) and the Los Angeles Lakers (WC 1st Pacific), in what is once again an East/West clash. This is the second (of two) match ups between these franchises with LA winning the first one. The game was played in front of a virtual sold out crowd that numbered 18,997 (max capacity: 19,060) at the STAPLES Center. In this one, for the visiting squad, it would be rookie Tyler Hansbrough, but as we know the inner ear infection has the lottery pick sidelined and without a time table of when he will come back. In the end, in what was a pretty lopsided game, Los Angeles beating Indiana by 23 points, with the final tally being 122 to 99. With the loss the Pacers are now 20-40 (.333 winning percentage), 7-24 on the road (.225 winning percentage) and second to last in the East, 9.0 games out of the playoff race.
