Once again it is time to check out the ex Carolina players now playing at the next level, checking the games from yesterday, Monday, February 22, 2010. In all the Association had five games, of which four of them had a touch of Carolina Blue, with one of them being a head to head match up. Of course if you want to check out a run down of the night you can see Real GM‘s recap for the night. Another feature you can see is my “Dribbling Through…“, where I look at any links that talks about any of the ex Heels. But for now, sit back and relax as we go through this edition of “Heels in the League” (NBA) for the games from 02/22/10…

First game of the night is the one that has the Milwaukee Bucks (EC 3rd Central) going to the mecca of basketball to take on the New York Knicks (EC 4th Atlantic). The game played in front of 19,763 fans at Madison Square Garden, being the third (of three) match ups between teams, with the other two games both going to Milwaukee. In this one, for the visiting team, we have veteran guard Jerry Stackhouse (16 Games: 19.5 MinsPG ~ 6.6 PPG ~ 1.8 APG ~ 2.6 RPG), who comes off the bench for 15 minutes. In that time the newly acquired Heel only scored three points (1 for 5 ~ 1 for 3 ~ 0 for 0) to go with four rebounds, an assist and three TOs while having a pts differential of +2. In the end, in a truly low scoring affair, it was Milwaukee winning this one (and sweeping the series), defeating New York by 16, with the final score being 83 to 67. With the W the Bucks are now 27-28 overall (.491 winning percentage), 10-19 on the road (.344 winning percentage) and being the last team in the playoff chase.

The second game of the night, a East/West match up, is also the only head to head match up, as the Indiana Pacers (EC 5th Central) head to the lone star state to take on the Dallas Mavericks (WC 1st SW). This game was played at the American Airlines Center in front of an attendance that numbered 19,585. This is the second game (of two) between these franchises, with Dallas having won the first one. In this game, for the visiting squad, it should be rookie Tyler Hansbrough, but unfortunately for the team and for the rookie lottery pick, he is still out due to his inner ear infection. On the other hand, for the Mavs, it’s ex UNC big man Brendan Haywood (54 Games: 32.8 MinsPG ~ 9.9 PPG ~ 10.4 RPG ~ 2.1 BPG), who gets 33 minutes in this one as a starter. In that time frame the just traded center has a double double with 13 points (3 for 6 ~ 0 for 1 ~ 7 for 12) to go with a game high 20 rebounds (2 offensive), three blocks and a TO while having a +14 pts differential in this one. In another low scoring affair, it was Dallas beating Indiana by nine points, with the final tally being 91 to 82. With the W the Mavericks are now 36-21 (.611 winning percentage), 18-9 at home (.667 winning percentage) and holing on the the fourth spot in the West, 6.5 games behind the conference leader and 1.5 games ahead of the fifth squad. The Pacers’ loss puts them at 19-37 (.339 winning percentage), 7-22 on the road (.241 winning percentage) and in 14th spot in the East, 8.5 games behind the last playoff spot in the conference.

The game was played in front of 19,911 fans at the EnergySolutions Arena. For the team from the east coast it’s forward Marvin Williams (54 Games: 29.9 MinsPG ~ 10.2 PPG ~ 4.9 RPG ~ 1.0 APG), who starts for the Hawks and gets 25 minutes in all. In this game the one and done had 11 points (4 for 7 ~ 0 for 1 ~ 3 for 4) to go with three rebounds, two assists and a block while having a pts differential of +5. When it was all said and done this one was won by Atlanta, who defeated Utah by 5 points, with the final score being 105 to 100. The victory puts the Hawks at 35-20 overall (. winning percentage), 14-14 on the road (.500 winning percentage) and holding the fourth spot in the East, 7.0 games behind the conference leader, just 0.5 behind the 3rd place squad.

And we finish off with another East/West clash as the Charlotte Bobcats (EC 4th SE) head straight across the U.S. to take on the Los Angeles Clippers (WC 3rd Pacific). The game was played at the STAPLES Arena in front of 15,892, in what was the first (of two) meetings between these franchises. For the visiting squad we have speedster Raymond Felton (54 Games: 32.7 MinsPG ~ 12.2 PPG ~ 5.2 APG ~ 1.7 SPG), who gets 41 minutes in this one. The point guard scores seven points (3 for 8 ~ 1 for 2 ~ 0 for 0) to go with nine assists, four steals and a rebound while having a -3 pts differential.
