Heels in the League (NBA) 02/02/10
I am way late with this daily post of my that I call “Heels in the League” (NBA) due to the fact I was at the hospital for most of the day and from there I just can’t connect to all the sites needed to do this recap. So, I apologize and hopefully from tomorrow on this will be back to the correct time. This post is going to look at the games from yesterday, Tuesday, January 2, 2010, where the National Basketball Association had seven games on the schedule. Of those five of them had a touch of Carolina Blue, one being a head to head match up. So, without further ado, let’s get going with this recap for the games from 02/02/10…
The first game of the night has the Cleveland Cavaliers (EC 1st Central) playing host to the Memphis Grizzlies (WC 5th Southwest). The site for this East vs West clash was the Quicken Loans Arena in front of a sold out crowd of 20,562 (max capacity: 20,562). In this game we have the duo of Jawad Williams (25 Games: 11.3 MinPG ~ 3.8 PPG ~ 1.2 RPG ~ 0.6 APG) and Danny Green (12 Games: 4.4 MinsPG ~ 2.3 PPG ~ 0.2 APG ~ 0.6 RPG), who both see action than their season average off the bench. For Williams it’s a 17 minutes performance, where he scores five points (1 for 5 ~ 1 for 3 ~ 2 for 2) to go with one rebound, a steal, a block and a turnover. The forward also had a +8 pts differential in this game. Green plays seven minutes, scoring two points (1 for 1 ~ 0 for 0 ~ 0 for 0) to go along with a pair of TO’s while having a pts differential of -11. In what wasn’t much of a game Cleveland took this one by 16, defeating Memphis by the final of 105 to 89.

The next game of the night has the Indiana Pacers (EC 4th Central) playing host to the team from north of the border, the Toronto Raptors (EC 2nd Atlantic), in a game that is played at the Conseco Fieldhouse in front of a crowd that numbered 11,191 (max capacity: 18,345). For the home squad it should be rookie power forward Tyler Hansbrough, but as we all know the lottery pick is out due to an inner ear infection. In a small blog I did this afternnon I talk about the young man going to a specialist in New York for this problem. As far as the game is concerned the game went to Indiana, who defeated Toronto by 15 points, with the final score being 130 to 115.

The third game of the night is the head to head match up as the Orlando Magic (EC 1st Southeast) took on the Milwaukee Bucks (EC 3rd Central) at the Amway Arena in front of 17,461 fans (max capacity: 17,519). For the visiting squad from the north it’s veteran Jerry Stackhouse (8 Games: 18.3 MinsPG ~ 6.8 PPG ~ 2.1 APG ~ 2.3 RPG), who gets 15 minutes coming off the bench for the Bucks. In that time he scores five points (2 for 6 ~ 1 for 3 ~ 0 for 0) to go with one assist and one TO while having a -4 pts differential. On the other side, for the Magic, we have another shooting guard, Vince Carter (42 Games: 30.2 MinsPG ~ 15.6 PPG ~ 2.9 APG ~ 4.4 RPG), who starts and gets 40 minutes in this one. In that time frame the guard has a double double, when he scores 17 points (7 for 15 ~ 2 for 3 ~ 1 for 3) to go along with 10 rebounds, seven assists, one steal, one block and three TO’s. Carter had a pts differential of +8. In the end it is all Orlando as they defeat Milwaukee by 17, with the final tally being 99 to 82.

The East vs West game was played at the Ford Center with an attendance of 17,360 (max capacity: 19,599). For the team from the east coast it’s Marvin Williams (46 Games: 29.8 MinsPG ~ 10.2 PPG ~ 5.0 RPG ~ 1.0 APG), who starts and plays for 28 minutes. In that time the small forward scores just four points (2 for 7 ~ 0 for 0 ~ 0 for 0) to go with six rebounds. Williams had a -13 pts differential in the game. In what was a surprise it was Oklahoma City winning this one, taking down Atlanta by seven points, 106 to 99.

And we close out this recap with the game between the Golden State Warriors (WC 5th Pacific) and the Houston Rockets (WC 4th Southwest). The game was played in front of a crowd that numbered 12,845 (max capacity: 18,300) at the Toyota Center. For the visiting squad we should be seeing Brandan Wright, but as we all know the young player is still be out due to his shoulder injury. I am still trying to find out for sure when he will be back, but nothing is certain for now. In the game it was Houston winning it, as they beat Golden State by 22 points, with the final score being 119 to 97.
