After several jam packed recaps in the last couple of days this “Heels in the Leauge” (NBA) is going to be as small as it gets. With the National Basketball Association having just three games on tap yesterday, Sunday, January 24, 2010, only one game had a touch of Carolina Blue in it. But do not worry this trend won’t continue as tonight the NBA has nine games and plenty have Tar Heels in them. However, for now, enjoy this edition of “Heels in the League” (NBA) for the games from 01/24/10…
If you want a complete breakdown of the games from yesterday you can check out RealGM‘s recap from 01/24.
In the one and only game of the night we have the Washington Wizards (EC 5th Southeast) playing host to the Los Angeles Clippers (WC 3rd Pacific) in a East/West match up of teams below .500. The game was played at the Verizon Center in front of a crowd of 12,356 (max capacity: 20,173). For the home team it’s the duo of Antawn Jamison and Brendan Haywood, who as usual both start and in this game both get a double double. For the ex NPOY it’s a 39 minutes night, where he scores 20 points (8 for 16 ~ 3 for 3 ~ 1 for 4) to go with 10 rebounds (4 offensive), two assists, a steal and 4 TO’s while having a -15 pts differential. The big man in the middle plays as many minutes, scoring 18 (7 for 8 ~ 0 for 0 ~ 4 for 6) to go along with 12 boards (7 on the offensive side), three blocks, an assist and three turnovers. Haywood had a pts differential of -5 in the game. In what a tight game until the 4th quarter, this game went to Los Angeles, who defeated Washington by the final of 92 to 78. With the loss the Wizards are now 14 and 29 (.326 winning percentage) and in second to last place in the conference, 6.5 games of the last playoff spot.
