Looking to be caught up with my daily post “Heels in the League” (NBA) let’s look at the games from yesterday, Sunday, January 3, 2010. A small schedule for the National Basketball Association, with just five games in all. Of those three of them had a touch of carolina blue in them, one of them being a head to head match up between two teams that have Carolina players on their rosters. So, without further ado, let’s get going with the recap from 01/03/10…
The first game of the night, which is the head to head match up, has the Cleveland Cavaliers hosting the Charlotte Bobcats. The game played at the Quicken Loans Arena (also known as the Q) in front of a sell out crowd that numbered 20,562 (max capacity: 20,562). For the visiting team it’s speedster Raymond Felton, who starts for the Bobcats and plays for 34 minutes. In that time frame the point guard scored 17 points (8 for 13 ~ 0 for 1 ~ 1 for 2) to go with six assists, three steals and two boards, but has a -2 in the pts differential. On the other side, for the Cavaliers, it’s the combo of Jawad Williams and Danny Green, with the first one dressing but not getting any playing time (DNP – Coach’s Decision) and the first one not even dressing up for the game. In a close game, that went down to a shot at the buzzer (missed by LBJ) it’s Charlotte winning this one by three, defeating Cleveland 91 to 88. With the W the Bobcats are now 14 and 18 (.437 winning percentage), in eighth place in the Eastern Conference, 11 games behind the conference leader. While the loss puts the Cavaliers at 27 and 9 (.750 winning percentage), in first place of the Eastern Conference, a game ahead of the second place squad.

In the second game it’s Indiana Pacers going to the Big Apple to take on the New York Knicks at the mecca of basketball, Madison Square Garden. The game was played with a sell out attendance of 19,763 (max capacity: 19,763). For the visiting team we should have seen rookie Tyler Hansbrough, but he is still not dressing due to his ear infection. The game was not a game, as New York destroyed Indiana by 43 points, with the final score being 132 to 89. With the loss the Pacers are now 10 and 23 (.303 winning percentage), and are now 13th in the Eastern Conference, 4.5 games behind eighth place.
