Heels in the League (NBA) 01/02/10 (Part 2)

"NBA - 01/02/10"And here is the second part of the recap from the games of Saturday, January 2, 2010, which is way, way late but real life came into play last night. (You can check out part one here) Make sure to stay tune for the recap from 01/03/10 in the next couple of hours. But for now let’s concentrate on this “Heels in the League” (NBA) of the final four games from 01/02/10 that has four games in it…

The first game has the Orlando Magic heading to the windy city to take on the Chicago Bulls at the United Center in front of a pretty packed crowd of 21,162 (max capacity: 21,711). For the team from the sunshine state it’s shooting guard Vince Carter, who starts for the Magic and gets 30 minutes in a not so good shooting night. The ex pupil of Dean Smith scores eight points (3 for 15 ~ 0 for 4 ~ 2 for 2) to go with three rebounds, two assists, a steal, a block and a pair of turnovers. And the game didn’t go good either as Chicago took this one, defeating Orlando by 8, with the final being 101 to 93. With the loss the Magic are now 24 and 9 (.727 winning percentage).

The next game on tab is the one that pins the Denver Nuggets and the Utah Jazz. A game played at the EnergySolutions Arena in front of a sell out crowd of 19,911 (max capacity: 19,911). For the visiting team from the mile high city it’s rookie point guard Ty Lawson, who starts and gets 38 minutes in all. The speedster has a great night, almost getting a double double, scoring 23 points (9 for 14 ~ 1 for 1 ~ 4 for 5) to add to nine rebounds, three steals, two rebounds and three TOs. With the team depleted Denver was still able to win this one, taking it from Utah by the final tally of 105 to 95. The win puts the Nuggets at a record of 21 and 12 (.636 winning percentage).

In the second to last game of this post it’s the Golden State Warriors taking on the Portland Trail Blazers at the Rose Garden in front a nearly sold out attendance of 20,507 spectators (max capacity: 20,630). For the visiting team it would be Brandan Wright playing, but as we all know the young forward is out with a shoulder injury/surgery. As far as the game was concerned it was Portland beating Golden State by double digits, with the final being 105 to 89. The loss put the Warriors at 9 and 23 (.281 winning percentage).

Finall we have the Sacramento Kings hosting the Dallas Mavericks at ARCO Arena. The game was played in front of a crowd that 14,294 (max capacity: 21,041). For the home squad we have ex UNC big man, Sean May, who once again dresses but does not see any action in this game (DNP – Coach’s Decision). Between him and the two Heels on the Cavs team I just don’t see why this is happening and wish that if the coaching staff isn’t going to play them put them in the NBDL so that they can get game exposure! In this one it’s Dallas winning, defeating Sacramento by 8, with the final score being 99 to 91. With the loss the Kings are now 14 and 19 (.424 winning percentage).
