After about a week (if not more) where I just could not get involved with anything blogging, mostly due with site problems – real life things – time crunching situations, I am back and ready to get back going and starting to work on what is going to be a summer long daily post, “Heels in the League” (MLB), about the ex Diamond Heels in the Major League. This edition is going to check out the games from Thursday, April 15, 2010, where all three of the Major Leaguers’ teams were in action, for a complete rundown of the day’s games you can check out ESPN’s Scoreboard Page. But for now, without any more interruptions, let’s get going with this recap from 04/15/10…
The first game of the night with a touch of Carolina Blue would be the third game of a three game series between the Boston Red Sox (4th AL East) and the Minnesota Twins (1st AL Central). The game was played at the brand new Target Field with an attendance of 38,341 (97.1% capacity). For the visiting team it would be relief pitcher Daniel Bard (6 Games: 1-0 ~ 0 saves ~ 3.00 ERA ~ 6.0 IP ~ 4 hits ~ 2 runs (both earned) ~ 1 HR ~ 3 BBs ~ 4 K’s), but the righty does not get any action in this game. As far as the game went it was Minnesota winning this one big, as they defeated Boston by the final of 8-0. With the loss the Red Sox slide to below .500 at 4-5 on the year (.444 winning percentage), 3-3 on the road (.500 winning percentage) and are 4th in the AL East, 2.5 games back of the division leader.

Next game on tap with a hint of Carolina Blue is the one between the Baltimore Orioles (5th AL East) and the Oakland A’s (1st AL West). The game, first (of a 4 game series), was played at Oakland Coliseum with just 17,382 present (49.6% capacity). For the visiting team from the East Coast it’s second baseman Brian Roberts, but he is out on the 15 day DL since April 11th. As far as the game went it was Oakland defeating Baltimore by the final score of 6 to 2. With the loss the Orioles go to 1-9 overall (.100 winning percentage), 1-3 on the road (.250 winning percentage) and are 5th in the AL East, 6.0 games behind the division leader.

And lastly, with the only team from the National League to have a touch of Carolina Blue, it’s the Colorado Rockies (2nd NL West) hosting the New York Mets (5th NL East) in the last game of a three game series. The game was played in front of a crowd that numbered 26,195 (51.9% capacity) at Coors Field. For the team from the Mile High City we have catcher Chris Iannetta (4 Games: .235 BA (4 for 17) ~ .588 SLG ~ 2 HRs ~ 2 RBIs ~ 2 BBs ~ 4 Ks), who does not play in this one. As far as the game went it was a shut out for NY, as they beat Colorado by the final of 5-0. With the loss the Rockies fall to 5-4 overall (.555 winning percentage), 4-2 at home (.667 winning percentage) and 2nd in the NL West, 2.0 games behind the division leader.
