As we keep moving trying to catch up with this (not so) daily post about the ex Diamond Heels now in Major League Baseball here is this edition of “Heels in the League” (MLB) for the games from Wednesday, April 7, 2010. In all there were fifteen games on the schedule and all three of the teams with a touch of Carolina were playing. The first game of the night is the rubber game of a three game series between the New York Yankees (AL East) and the Boston Red Sox (AL East) in what is supposed to be the biggest rivalry in baseball if not all sports. The game was played in front of 38,238 fans (103.5% capacity) at Fenway Park. For the home town team it’s relief pitcher Daniel Bard who comes in for the third game in a row, this time for 1.1 innings, giving up no runs on one hit, no walks while getting a strike out (15 pitches/12 strikes) ERA: 0.00. In the three game series the righty pitched for 3.1 innings giving up no runs. In a low scoring affair, that went into the tenth inning, it was New York winning this one, taking down Boston by the final of 3 to 1. With the loss the Red Sox are now 1-2 on the year (.333 winning percentage) and 1-2 at home.

Second game of the night, the other team from the American League with a touch of Carolina Blue, is the second of a three game series between divisional foes the Baltimore Orioles (AL East) and the Tampa Bay Rays (AL East). For the visiting squad from Charm City it’s second baseman Brian Roberts, who hits first for the Orioles and goes 0 for 5 once again, with out strike out on the day. In the end, in another tight game, it was Tampa Bay winning this one by one, defeating Baltimore by the final of 4 to 3. With the loss the Orioles are now 0-2 on the year (.000 winning percentage) and 0-2 on the road (.000 winning percentage).

The third game of the recap and first of the National League it’s the Colorado Rockies (NL West) taking on the Milwaukee Brewers (NL Central) in the final game of a three game series. For the visiting squad from the Mile High City it would be Chris Iannetta, but he does not play in this one. In yet another very tight game it was Milwaukee winning the game by one, defeating Colorado by the final score of 5 to 4. With the loss the Rockies are now 1-2 on the year (.333 winning percentage) and 1-2 on the road (.333 winning percentage).
