In a story that is way late, but I wanted to touch on because it is part of the Carolina family, I wanted to say how much I think it’s great how David Noel is giving back to the places that gave to him. For the second year in a row the ex Tar Heel basketball player, who was a member of the 2005 national championship squad, is hosting a basketball camp at Southern Durham High School, from which he earned his diploma in 2002. From a small online article on the official Carolina Athletics site it says that the junior camp is for boys and girls ages 6-12 and the skills camp is for boys and girls ages 13-18, and it will run from July 20th to the 24th. The camp will working on all parts of the game, where Noel and his staff will work with the kids.
The article also says that several NBA and college special guests will be at the camp. I have to wonder how many players/coaches from North Carolina these kids will get to see/meet. That alone would be worthwhile for some of them. If you want anymore information about the David Noel camp check out his web page here.
