As I continue to try to catch up (and I am going to I assure all of you), here are the games from June 10, 2009 for the ex Lady Heels now in the WNBA. Which means it’s time to do another (not so) daily post called “Heels in the League” (WNBA), right here on The Fifth Corner. On this date there was three games, of which two a touch of carolina blue, and had three ex Heels taking to the court. The good news is that one team who have ex UNC players won, while the other one didn’t. To find out what the three players did just read this edition of “Heels in the League” (WNBA)…

The first game with a touch of carolina blue is a cross country battle as the New York Liberty headed to the US Airways Center, to take on the Phoenix Mercury. In a game that had just over 5,000 fans at it, for the visiting team it was Cathrine Kraayeveld starting at a forward spot and playing almost 33 minutes in all. During that time the ex Heel got 7 points (3 for 10 ~ 0 for 5 from 3), while adding seven boards, a steal and a block shot. The former Heel also had two turnovers in the game. As far as the final result of the game it’s Phoenix beating New York by the final score of 91 to 84.

The other game on the night is the one between the Los Angeles Sparks and the Minnesota Lynx, played in front of 7,444 at the Target Center. For the home squad it’s a pair of ex Lady Heels that get to see some action in the game. First off it’s fwd/center LaToya Pringles, who gets over eight minutes off the bench, scoring two points (from the charity stripe), while grabbing three rebounds and committing two TO’s. Her team mate, Rashanda McCants, just see the floor for 3 minutes, where he gets nothing on the box score. The good news for the two ex UNC players and the rest of the team is that Minnesota won the game by double digits, taking it from Los Angeles by the final of 87 to 76.
