The first game has what should be a pair of ex Heels in it, but unfortunately Sean May is back to not playing for his squad. That means that only Raymond Felton and his Charlotte Bobcats played host to the Indiana Pacers. For the speedy point guard it was a so-so night as he scored 16 points and grabbed three rebounds in 36 minutes. Felton also had three assists, one steal and a block on the night while committing two turnovers in the game. In the end it was Charlotte (22-32, 16-14 home) to win the game, as they defeated Indiana (22-34, 6-23 away) by the final of 103 to 94.
Second game with a touch of carolina blue also features an ex Heel that didn’t get to see the floor for his team, the Minnesota Timberwolves, who were on the road to face the Miami Heat. I am talkin about Rashad McCants as he was a “DNP – Coach’s Decision” in the game last night. However, for better or worst, the ex NCAA national champion did watch his squad take one on the road as Minnesota (18-35, 10-18 away) upset Miami (28-25, 17-10 home) at the AmericanAirlines Arena 111 to 104.
Third game of the night should have featured a great match up of ex Tar Heels going head to head, with the guest team, the New Jersey Nets, bringing for their side Vince Carter, who didn’t have a spectacular night, going 7 for 21 from the field and scoring just 15 points in 38 minutes of play. The ex Heel guard did add four rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block on the night, while turning the ball over three times. On the other side it should have been Jerry Stackhouse with his Dallas Mavericks playing hosts. However, as well all know, the ex Heel forward hasn’t played all year, and probably will never play in a Dallas uniform ever again. In the end it was Dallas (32-21, 18-8 home) winning the game over New Jersey (24-31, 13-15 away) by the final tally of 113 to 98.
Next game with an ex Heel is the one matching up the Atlanta Hawks and the Sacramento Kings. For the visiting squad it’s Marvin Williams, who gets 31 minutes scoring six points and grabbing nine rebounds in the game held at ARCO Arena. The ex Heel forwards doesn’t have much of a stat stuffer night as he doesn’t register anything else. Having said that his team does register the win last night as the Hawks (32-22, 13-16 away) beat the Kings (11-44, 8-18 home) by five, 105 to 100.
In the last game we have another ex Tar Heel who is not playing, Brandan Wright, and from the sounds of it, at least from this article I found, his way back might not be so easy. As the online article wrote, he is trying to weather the Donnie Nelson storm. Back to the game last night though, where the Golden State Warriors hosted the Los Angeles Lakers at the ORACLE Arena. In a game that had the Warriors in the lead all the way through three quarters, they let is slip away giving Los Angeles (44-10, 19-6 away) the victory by a score of 129 to 121 over Golden State (19-36, 14-13 home).
