Good Morning Tar Heels 07/15/09
It’s been a while since I have done a link dump, which I am pretty uspet about, since I wanted to do this on a daily basis (or at least once every two days, not weeks). And while I can not do anything about the past, but I can try to do it better going forward. Today I have plenty of good links from sites that are friends of The Fifth Corner. I also have a couple of shout outs about Tar Heels fans/friends, as well as one birthday about an ex head coach from Chapel Hill. And it’s all right here, on “Good Morning Tar Heels”. So, sit back, relax and enjoy these great bloggers and their writing…
UNC Birthdays:
Ex Tar Heel Football coach John Bunting celebrates his 59th birthday today. An alumni Bunting stayed at his alma mater (LB from `69-`71) as the head coach from 2001 to 2006 where he compiled a 27 and 45 record. In that time coach Buntin had two seasons where he took his teams to bowl games (going 1 and 1 in them), with the best year going 8 and 5. Happy birthday coach Bunting.
The UNC shout outs:
First one goes out to “The Rob Moore”, a fellow Carolina alumni, who can be followed on “Twitter“.
The other one goes to Mods of Carolina Blue free web boards, who do a great job there. CB.com is part of the Rivals.com network.
The linkage:
Over at Not Qualified To Comment there is a very good post about letting Cutler being Cutler. For someone like myself, who is a die hard Tar Heel, reading how someone questions a player before he has done anything reminds me of Hansbrough and the so called experts.
At Bootleggers Sports there is a piece about Jay Mariotti and a piece he did. I think this is well done and a must read, especially for those of you that are following baseball while thinking about `roids and the super stars of the game.
I just did a small post about the fact that the Cavs and ex Tar Heel Sean May might be a fit for the upcoming season. However at Slam Dunk Central Jeff Sack says that Cleveland might be shopping Delonte West. Some come and some go, but will the Cavs be able to win it all is the only real question that this city is asking itself.
Mookie, from A Stern Warning, has a blog called: Top 10 Stern Warnings to Blazers Fans. The piece is good, but other than that, how can I not link to a post that has a picture of head coach Roy Williams on it?
At Reviewing the Brew they did a nice little post about the Home Run Derby Winner Prince Fielder. I have to say that while I am not a baseball fan per say, I did enjoy the HR Derby and the show all of the players put on.
From MoodDog Sports there is a good piece about my favorite subject in college football: The BCS. It seems that one of our lawmakers want the BCS investigated. Now, I know that MLB gained a lot by having Washington D.C. getting involved. But this seems more of a “selfish motive”, since the person wanting this is Orrin Hatch, senator from Utah, the state that had a school snubbed by the BCS.

Thanks for the link, AEM.
I’d like to see Sean May with the Blazers – he could fill that bench PF role well — particularly if we don’t sign Millsap. There is obviously plenty of potential for May to be a great player again if he can keep his weight in check.
I wonder how that workout with the Blazers went the other day…
