After having to skip this post yesterday (due to real lift events I could not control or avoid) I am back once again to do my (not so) daily post about link dumps that I call “Good Morning Tar Heels”. As we all know this piece is about giving shout outs and links to either North Carolina themed web boards/blogs/links as well as blogs friends of The Fifth Corner. Plus, I also give birthday wishes to Tar Heels (that I know of). There is plenty of links to go around today, so sit back and relax as I give you this edition of “Good Morning Tar Heels”

First off, the birthday wishes:

The only one that I have today is an ex Tar Heel football player, Buddy Curry, who today turns 51. After playing at the line backer position at Carolina, Curry spent eight seasons in the National Football League with the Atlanta Hawks, who drafted him in the second round (36th pick overall).

The shout outs to Tar Heels:

A good site about UNC is the one called “Triumphant Tar Heel“. Make sure to check it out and see what they have everyday (as it is updated pretty often).

Also, a shout out to Mike Irby and the moderators of CarolinaBlue.com (part of Rivals.com). A good web board to talk anything/everything to do with a touch of carolina blue.

And now for the links:

Today I start with a link that Ethan found this video for me and if you love the University of North Carolina you will enjoy this, if you love the state of North Carolina, you might enjoy it even more! But you know that at NESW you won’t find just one good video, so check this one out as well, which is still about a basketball star, Shaq. Or you can find this video on Ball Hype (and yes I put BH a lot because I try to give all web sites some love!)

At Talk Hoops net is breaking down the players in the NBA Finals. So far he has gotten to the guards, check out what he says about the floor generals and the shooting guards. I would suggest to keep going back there as the rest of the breakdowns will be online in no time!

Sports2Debate gives us a great discussion piece: “The NFL bottom dwellers“. Maybe I know them, maybe I don’t, but it should be fun trying to protect the Detroit Lions, don’t you think?

And from the worst of one sport to the best of another, Paneech has the Belmont Stakes review, including the odds for each of the ten horses and his prediction. But remember, if you are going to gamble, do it with your head, not over it! You can check the story out at Ball Hype as well as Reddit, so give it some love and we will see you at the track.

Still over at Paneech, in something I have to post, he has the reasons why he hates golf, along with a video. Check it out, and I will say this, I hate golf too (playing it that is), and the list that Paneech did I agree with most all of it (especially how I am the worst at the game in my group of friends). This post too can be found at BH.

At Detroit4Lyfe they have a cool story about that intertwines two sports as Matthew Stafford spends some time in the booth at Wednesday’s Tigers/Red Sox game. If a team ever needed a player to lift their spirits, as well as its fan base, the Lions might just be.

And going over to my friend Jeff Sack’s blog, Slam Dunk Central, there is a piece about LBJ, entitled: “Why Has LeBron Gone From Beloved To Despised? HATERS!” Sorry Jeff, but this time I guess you are going to have to put me in the haters group!

And finally, keeping with the NBA theme, mookie has a video about the “Ten best playoff games“. Not bad, whether you might or not agree with the list, the highlights are still worth looking at!
