Freshmen pick their numbers

I know that the 2009-10 seasons are far away, but here on The Fifth Corner it’s time to “Get to know the Heels”, which will be posts that go in depth about the new season for football and basketball concerning the players and coaching staff. In this edition the five freshmen have chose the numbers that they will wear for this upcoming season. From the official UNC Athletics web site here is a very small online post about it. The five frosh, who are already in Chapel Hill for summer session, can now be called by their numbers and not just by their names.

Dexter Strickland: #5
John Henson: #31
Leslie McDonald: #15
David Wear: #34
Travis Wear: #43

I have to say that in a couple of web boards I frequent some of the posters had the numbers nailed. I also think that with the Wear twins (identical twins) will give many announcers a way to mess up by having inverted numbers (43/34). Strickland is taking on the number that hasn’t gotten cold yet, since it was worn this past season by Ty Lawson. McDonald also is going to wear a number that was worn in the 2008-09, but maybe a bit less famous (yes I am being sarcastic), since it was worn by J.B. Tanner.
