While LeBron James decided to take his services to “South Beach” (aka the Miami Heat) an ex Tar Heel could be headed north to the mecca of basketball. From a tweet by Mark J. Spears (of Yahoo Sports), several sources close to the situation are saying that point guard Raymond Felton and the Knicks are close to making a deal. Felton, who was the fifth pick in the `05 draft, is now an unrestricted free agent who had a good regular season but was bashed for his shaky defense in the playoffs. The ex pupil of head coach Roy Williams averaged 12.1 PPG ~ 5.6 APG ~ 1.5 SPG last season, while his career averages are 13.3 PPG ~ 6.4 APG ~ 1.4 SPG. The one thing that we will have to follow is if the Charlotte Bobcats make an offer, since without Felton they would be without a true starting point guard for the upcoming season.
As I do with all the ex Tar Heels let me wish the best to Raymond Felton as he either heads to the Big Apple or waits for another offer by his former club (or another one).

I love Felton and the Knicks, but I dont think Stoudamire (and Felton) can bring them back. Miami and Boston are going to be too tough again this season.
