While most of the fan base around North Carolina are either following the basketball season, checking on the recruiting for the football team, or most likely, both, there is news about another sport in Chapel Hill that has provided many great times of late. The Diamond Heels, whose season is about three weeks away from beginning, are ranked in both the Baseball America (20th) and in College Baseball (13th). But just like basketball, rankings do not mean much when you win it on the field, and for head coach Mike Fox said the following of the high rankings for his squad: “Rankings do not matter to him or his team”. I like that attitude because it makes the team work on what they are and not what the media thinks they are.
The Heels open up the 2010 campaign February 19th in Chapel Hill, facing George Washington University. I will put up the full schedule for the team in the following days, so make sure to check back soon!
