Former North Carolina power forward and national champion Deon Thompson is headed overseas to start his professional career, to be exact in Greece, where the 21 year old will play for POK Ikarus Esperos. (Here is the Wikipedia page for the club, cause the home page for the team is in Greek and I could not get anywhere with it). Thompson, a four year starter at UNC, should do well in that league I believe, and without a doubt I will keep an eye on his progress as he begins the next chapter of his life. From the small blog post of The Hoops Market it said that the forward was also being looked at by Hapoel Jerusalem, which is not surprising since I believe the young man has the talent to play at the next level overseas.
As I do with all the Tar Heels let me wish all the best to Deon Thompson as he plays his first season as a professional basketball player.
