Not so great news for one of the many Tar Heels that helped last year’s basketball team win it all. From a report that I found on Real GM comes the story that guard/forward combo Danny Green, who was picked by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2nd round of last year’s draft, is being sent to their D League squad. Green, who is making $457,588 this season, had only played in 13 games, averaging 5.2 minutes, 2.5 points, 0.2 assists, while shooting .480 from the field and .333 from beyond the arc. The ex North Carolina player will be available to play for the Erie Bayhawks tomorrow night, when they take on the Dakota Wizards at 7:00 p.m. EST on their home court of Tullio Arena. I will surely try to keep track of how Danny Green is doing in the NBDL, and hopefully we will see him back with the parent team soon enough.
I will say that while it is never good to see a Tar Heel being sent down (whatever the sport), Jawad Williams’ stint at the lower level of professional basketball did help him out a lot in my opinion. As I do with all the Heels, let me wish the best to Danny Green as he works his way back to the National Basketball Association.
