After having had good news coming out from the National Football League about ex Tar Heels the last couple of times, this small post is not as good. The Chiefs, who had selected ex Carolina kicker Connor Barth last year, have now released him for another rookie. Actually Barth has been set aside for this year’s “Mr. Irrelevant” as a small post from WRAL Sports Fan tells us. In the 2008 season Connor Barth hit 10 of his 12 field goals, but the special teams were just not up to par. Then again, when you are a team that wins two games the whole season how much can truly be up to par?
I hope that the young man can now gather himself and look for another team. As I do with all the other Heels, I can only wish all the best to Connor Barth as he searches for another squad in the NFL or decides to move on to his next step in life (the after football life). Of course if there is more news on this story I will make sure to post it here on The Fifth Corner as soon as possible.
