Another look at the NBA mock drafts

As the college basketball season comes closer and closer to getting to the end of the regular season it’s time to give another look at the two players from Chapel Hill that will be headed to the NBA next year, Tyler Hansbrough and Danny Green, as well as the other two that most likely will be joining them a year ahead of their graduation date, Ty Lawson and Wayne Ellington. In the last edition I did of this there were many, many surprises, let’s see what this edition brings us. (To be noted: All of the mocks I checked were all two rounds).

The first mock draft I looked at was CollegeHoopsNet (updated Febraury 25th) , where all the Carolina players slipped according to Shawn Siegel’s picks. First Heel picked according to CHN is senior forward Tyler Hansbrough, going 26th (in the previous draft he was at the 24th spot). Junior point guard Ty Lawson is set to go 29th in this mock (compared to 27th last time), while junior shooting guard Danny Green has been slated at the 35th spot (he was 34th in the previous mock). Senior Danny Green was not listed in this mock, nor was he listed in the previous one.

On a side note: While you are looking around the CHN’s web page, check out the huge section that they have about March Madness. If you check on “google” and type ”NCAA Tournament“ CollegeHoopsNet is second only to the NCAA web site. Meaning that the people at CHN are before CBS, ESPN and all of those main stream sites!

The second mock draft is the one done by Sports2Debate (updated Febraury 22nd), who I am checking out for the first time in a while, since they were only doing one round. But not anymore, these hard working bloggers went the extra mile and did 2 rounds this time. The have Lawson going 16th in their draft, and then they do not put any other Tar Heel in the first round. Ellington comes in second, going 38th, then Hansbrough at the 40th spot and finally Green going 50th.

The next mock draft is the one from DraftXpress (updated Febraury 25th), who only has three UNC players being drafted. The first one would be in their opinion Ty Lawson, going 13th, same as the previous mock. Second picked would be Tyler Hansbrough, in the 29th spot, moving up from the 30th spot from the last mock they did. Danny Green instead loses a spot, from 45th to 46th, in this mock draft.

And the last one that I checked today is the NBA Draft Net one (updated Febraury 25th), who just like DX’s and CHN’s only has three Tar Heels being chosen in this year’s NBA Draft. For this site the first UNC player picked is the reigning NPOY, going 26th, one slot up from their lost mock, where he was 27th. Second pick would be the speedy point guard for head coach Roy Williams, slipping from 21st in the last mock to 27th in this one. And finally, the third Heel would be the 6’6″ guard/forward combo, being taken 46th. NBA Draft Net didn’t have Green going anywhere in the last mock, and just like the previous draft Wayne Ellington was not listed.
